Why Renters Can Finally Rejoice When It Comes to Sustainability

While renting and sustainability haven’t always gone hand in hand, things are finally changing for the better. Due to the nature of the rental market, sustainability is often somewhere down on the list of priorities. But LIV’s first build to rent apartments in Sydney Olympic Park are giving the choice back to renters, offering a state-of-the-art residential building with sustainable principles built right in.

At home with sustainability

The green credentials begin with the design of the LIV building itself, which has earned a 6.4 star average NatHERS rating. Each of the one, two and three bedroom apartments will have energy-efficient LED lighting and appliances installed as standard. Living spaces are exceptionally well insulated with double glazing and make the most of passive solar design, so they’ll be comfortable and quiet all year round.

There’s also an energy monitoring system and portal that allow residents to manage their energy usage on an individual apartment basis. What does this mean? Well, by monitoring your energy usage it’s possible to save from 5 to 15% on your energy usage (and therefore costs!) per year.

Green community features

The community features are just as thoughtfully considered at LIV. A 30kW rooftop solar system will be incorporated to generate a predicted 10% of the energy consumption of common amenities such as the commercial kitchen, dining areas, cinema and gym. Common areas will also have energy-efficient LED lighting and motion sensors to keep energy consumption to a minimum, while elevators in the building will have an auto-off function when not in use.

Treadlies & transport

Of course, LIV’s locations mean it’s super simple to catch the train, bus or tram. But LIV’s carpark also has clever sustainability features: with two high voltage electric vehicle charging bays included. There’s parking allocation for car share facilities so you can enjoy a ‘clean getaway’ on the weekends, as well as over 400 bicycle spaces and therefore plenty of space to park your treadly.

So with environmental consideration across homes, communal spaces and transport options, as well as beautiful open green spaces and proximity to parklands, LIV will be ideal for clean, green and amenity-filled living in the city.
